New Year's Eve Dresses & Parties in Toronto

Whether you call it a party dress or a cocktailklänning, if you have a fancy night out planned for New Year's Eve you probably want to buy a new frock. My favourite go-to boutique is Rescue Vintage on Ossington, which is currently having a holiday sale- 15% off everything online (enter the code "15HOLIDAYSALE" when checking out.) Another gorgeous online boutique I've just discovered is Jenny Joseph. This international dress shop has a stunning selection of sheaths that range from sweet to sexy. I'm loving these two styles particularly:

Jenny Joseph ships to North America and has weekly specials. Now, let's talk parties. If you are looking for a great New Year's Eve party in Toronto to wear your fabulous dress to, check out BlogTO's guide for some options. And remember the best free New Year's Eve party with fireworks in Toronto is at Nathan Phillips Square, where the show this year features DJ Clymaxxx of KISS 92.5 spinning for the crowd and performances by the funk and blues groups Fathead and God Made Me Funky. And, for the first time our New Year's Eve party in Nathan Phillips Square will be featured live on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest. Rosie :)

Kimberly Rideout of Dreamscenes

This summer we renovated the top floor of our home. The whole amazing story is here. It was turned into an amazing, forest-themed playroom for our son by the amazing contractors at Super Seven. The mural work on the walls completely transformed the space, and I wanted to share some of the artwork by Kimberly Rideout from Dreamscenes. She's an outstanding artist and a beautiful person, and she created all these stunning scenes herself, in under a week. If you want to transform part of your home into something really special, she's your artist. Rosie :)

Images From The City: Mugwump

Thanks Carm for this shot of Mugwump from the David Cronenberg Evolution exhibit at the TIFF Lightbox. Visitors to the exhibit love having their picture taken with this recreation of one of the most memorable Naked Lunch scenes, the bar scene, where Lee meets a Mugwump with a major speaking part who also smokes and drinks.

20 Questions with FS Local Toronto

FS Local Toronto is an online directory that helps local businesses get found in more places online. It's pretty cool. Today I was in the hot seat for their "20 Questions" feature. I even had my own "day" on Twitter:

Amsterdam Brewhouse | Harbourfront

Amsterdam Brewhouse is the perfect place to go if you want to meet a bunch of friends on a Saturday night to watch the Leaf game, in a really nice bar with really good food. I love anyplace on the water that has a view like this:

In addition to an excellent beer selection, the menu has some really well-above-average tasting pub food. Highlights for me were this poached pear salad with bruleed goat cheese, and brown butter lobster rolls with poutine:

A casual, lively and lovely spot that overlooks the harbourfront. Rosie :)
